The surf school is located in the seaside town of Somo. The beach has over 4 km of golden sand and catches just about any swell going. Being just across the bay, the town has historically been a popular weekend retreat for people living in Santander. If you decide you want a taste of city life, there is a regular ferry and bus to and from the city centre. Also, for surfers who want to explore, there are a number of other quality surf spots within easy driving distance.

The surf school is sponsored by Quicksilver/Roxy. Your 2 hour class will be tailored to suit the individual needs of the group and takes place either at 11 am or, in the summer, at 4pm. You will be taught by qualified and experienced English-speaking surf instructors. The board and wetsuits are then at your disposal for the rest of the day, so you can practise your new skills in your free time.

Surfer-friendly Guest Houses and Apartments

Your accommodation will be in one of a number of surfer friendly guest houses in and around the town. You will have a room with an en-suite bathroom and breakfast will be provided every morning before the daily surf classes. If you are booking as a group or are a family, we can often offer you a self-catering apartment at no extra cost.

The Surf House

The Surf House is on the top of the hill, with views of Santander Bay. It's 2 minutes walking distance from the surf school and the beach. Individual or double rooms. All rooms well equipped and decorated with a full bathroom.

Camping

The campsite is on the hill within easy walking distance of the beach and the surf school. Sleeping is in pre-set up tents, all you need to bring is a sleeping bag, a carry mat and any other personal supplies that you can't do with out.

The area picks up just about any swell that�s produced in the North Atlantic, making it one of the most consistent surfing regions in Europe. From September to May the waves are usually in the 4 to 6 feet range. In the summer months the waves tend to be a bit smaller; usually about 3 to 5 feet.
